Req Title: BMS Admin
Location: Oakland CA- Hybrid
Rate: 40 to 60 hr on 1099
This role partners with IT Support and Operational Technology teams to support, secure, and optimize Building Management Systems (BMS) and related infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include managing Windows Server environments, coordinating deployments and security patching, troubleshooting system issues, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and leading Operational Technology audit activities. The role plays a critical part in maintaining system reliability, ensuring cybersecurity compliance, and delivering technology solutions that support facility operations.
Some of these responsibilities would be shared with our IT Support personnel.
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor and control building systems via automated BMS platforms to maintain optimal performance and occupant comfort
- Support large installations of Microsoft Windows Servers
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Application SMEs to verify system builds
- Program and script in PowerShell
- Work on the Windows Operating System internals, including registries and permissions
- Perform analysis on the performance of Operating Systems
- Utilize knowledge of networking and TCP/IP protocols (DNS, ICMP, SMB, SSL/TLS, etc.) during setup and troubleshooting
- Support planning and deployment efforts for various departmental projects involving Operating Systems
- Perform security patching on Microsoft Windows Operating Systems
- Work with Project Managers and application experts to resolve issues related to security patching and application installation
- Coordinate with third-party vendors to verify and troubleshoot system-specific issues
- Lead Operational Technology Internal Audit
- Collaborate with IT Support
Background Qualifications:
Minimum:
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Business, Engineering or equivalent experience
- Seven years of job-related experience in Business, IT, or Engineering.
- Continuous education in IT and business-specific areas
Desired:
- Proficiency in BMS software and technical troubleshooting
- Strong Project Management skills
- BACnet Certifications (BC, AAC, ASC, & AWS)
- CCNA or Network+ Certifications
- ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Training
- Experience with MS SQL and other database technologies and administration
- Automated HVAC, Lighting, battery, and power management systems support experience
- Very strong knowledge of IT infrastructure including firewalls, managed switches and structured cabling.
- Experience in developing technical solutions
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple support requests, system issues, and improvement efforts in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols used in system connectivity and troubleshooting
- Experience supporting building automation, operational technology, or facility-related systems in a complex enterprise environment
- Demonstrated ability to translate business and operational needs into scalable technology solutions
