The primary responsibility of the instructor is to properly implement and document the SAT process which includes the following tasks:
Analyze subject material for new and revised training.
Use the design process to determine job performance measures (JPMs), establish training settings, sequence training objectives, and identify test items from the objectives.
Develop lessons for classroom and laboratory settings, JPM performance evaluations, and test questions.
Execute developed training by thoroughly preparing to present the material and verifying that instructional facilities and resources are adequate and ready to provide a quality learning experience.
Evaluate training process by the collection of data, including test results, feedback, and the performance of post training evaluations.
Instructors are responsible for promoting industrial safety by:
-Modeling and reinforcing management expectations and engaging students in classrooms and labs to improve the safety culture.
-Applying human performance tools and providing coaching to reinforce safety behaviors utilizing the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant (DCPP) Site Standards Handbook.
-Including ALARA topics that cover minimizing exposure and contaminations in classroom and lab material and discussions.
-Instructors are expected to contribute to organizational effectiveness by:
Encouraging and facilitating employee involvement in the training process.
-Ensuring that classroom and laboratory housekeeping models management expectations.
-Modeling and reinforcing management expectations for the use of human performance tools and techniques to include coaching and acknowledging students when appropriate.
-Contributing to the outage performance and duration by holding an outage position (when requested and supported by management).
-Obtaining and maintaining instructor qualifications, certifications, and technical proficiency.
-Performing management observations; in training settings as well as in the plant.
-Performing emergency response organization duties.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
-5+ years of maintenance experience at DCPP's maintenance or training department OR 5+ years of experience in maintenance or training from another company.
Strongly Desired Electrical Maintenance Knowledge
- 5 years Electrical Maintenance Experience at another Nuclear Power Plant OR,
- 7 years other Power Plant Electrical Experience (such as Gas Plant, Manufacturing Plant, etc) OR,
- Completed Electrical Apprenticeship OR,
- Electrical Engineering Degree & 1 years Nuclear Power Plant Experience
Other Desired Qualifications:
- Instructor experience in adult learning environment with demonstrated experience in instructional development.
- Demonstrated experience in using a word processing software
- OJT/TPE Process Implementation familiarity
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong presentation skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
This role will support Diablo Canyon Power Plan Learning Services department, including all accredited training programs in Operations, Maintenance, and Technical training.
- Supports the maintenance of National Nuclear Accrediting Board accreditation for applicable training programs from the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO), including coordination of accrediting board preparation activities and assist/lead authoring of the accreditation self-evaluation report (ASER).
- Provides guidance and support to training supervisors and staff to ensure compliance with Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) accreditation guidelines and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations.
- Designs, develops, implements and manages instructor-training programs, including conducting initial and continuing instructor training that ensures a competent instructional staff.
- Develops self-assessment plans and coordinates the self-assessment process for the training department, including preparation documents for the Training Challenge Board.
- Develops, maintains and implements the systematic approach to training (SAT) procedures and handbook guidance.
- Performs instructor evaluations, including evaluation of instructor of performance data and recommend appropriate actions.
- Develops, implements, and manages performance indicators and metrics to maintain National Nuclear Accrediting Board accreditation.
- May manage projects or initiatives.
- Solves moderate to complex problems and takes a new perspective on existing solutions.
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree
Desired Education: Degree in Education or equivalent
Minimum Experience: Three years of experience supporting a training program as an instructor or equivalent (NOTE: a Degree or Masters in education, communication, or equivalent may be counted as part of the experience. Nuclear Naval Training experience may be counted as part of the experience.)
