Looking for a candidate with experience in energy efficiency principles implemented in home design and construction. Subject-matter expertise and demonstrable program/project management experience in the corporate training field, or related public resource programming field. Can demonstrate ability to create and manage a technical training curriculum in the Home Performance field. Need to possess prior knowledge of advanced Home Performance concepts. Advanced knowledge in the Home Performance field is critical for this role.

1) 4 years of relevant experience in the residential sector performing energy efficient home design, construction, inspection/testing/diagnostics or related activity.

2) Ability to plan and execute a project while balancing multiple goals on a team.

3) Experience in developing, designing, and teaching technical curricula.

** Minimum Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in construction or building science, or equivalent work experience.

• Ability to travel a minimum of 20% of the time.

• 4 years of relevant experience in the residential sector performing energy efficient home design, construction, inspection/testing/diagnostics or related activity.

• Valid California driver’s license required or the ability to obtain one prior to start date.

Desired Qualifications

• Demonstrable work experience in the residential Home Performance field.

• Advanced degree in building science related fields or equivalent work experience (residential sector preferred).

• Excellent presentation skills, including presentations to upper management.

• Ability to plan and execute a project while balancing multiple goals on a team.

• Excellent communication, writing, speaking, and customer relationship skills.

• Demonstrable experience managing contracts, budgets and directing contractor work.

• Thorough understanding of residential new construction and retrofit related terminology, technology, practice and building and energy codes.

• Familiarity with current Home Performance technologies and their implementation, including but not limited to building science fundamentals, building envelope strategies (air sealing, insulating, window selection, advanced framing, weatherization), mechanical systems efficiency (heat pumps, water system efficiency, ventilation and conditioning), inspection/testing/diagnostics (home energy rating, combustion safety), and other topics.

• Familiarity with emerging strategies related to zero net energy (ZNE), zero net carbon (ZNC), decarbonization and electrification, particularly in a California setting.

• Experience working with residential single-family and multi-family home developers, builders, raters, code compliance officials, contractors and installers in a variety of trades.

• Experience in developing, designing, and teaching technical curricula.

• Knowledge of California's Title 24 Part 6 Energy Standards.

• BPI, HERS or similar certification.

The Coordinator serves as a subject matter expert who manages from creation through delivery a segment of training and educational resources focused on improving energy performance in new and existing homes in California. This segment, also referred to as the Home Performance curriculum track, includes but is not limited to building science fundamentals, building envelope strategies (air sealing, insulating, window selection, advanced framing), mechanical systems efficiency (heat pumps, water system efficiency, ventilation and conditioning), inspection/testing/diagnostics (home energy rating, combustion safety), and other topics. The Coordinator’s primary focus during the period of this contract will be twofold:

1) to manage the overall Home Performance curriculum track, including class scheduling and logistics, vendor relationships and payment, budgeting and forecasting, and other track management tasks as assigned;

2) to refresh the Home Performance curriculum track in ways that better identify and deliver training topics to improve the energy efficiency knowledge and skills of California’s residential workforce, focusing on occupations that have the most potential to pass along energy savings to residential occupants, and strategies to improve the prioritization of energy efficiency in the residential design and construction industry. Ideally the Coordinator possesses the unique talents to identify and train others in the residential sector on the technical, efficiency, and energy code requirements of residential new construction and existing home performance in a customer focused team setting. The Coordinator must be dedicated to good design, energy efficiency and practical solutions that meet the residential occupants' energy and comfort needs.
